Why Square Toe

A square toe gives more room across the front of the foot than a pointed or round toe. This makes square toe boots more comfortable for long days on your feet. The wider toe box also gives the boot a broader stance on the ground, which improves balance and helps avoid any injuries.

In the show pen, a square toe gives a cleaner, more modern silhouette than a traditional pointed toe.

Why We Choose Bison, Kudu, and Boar Leather

Bison leather is thicker and more abrasion-resistant than standard cowhide. It holds its shape under hard use and develops a natural character over time without cracking. Kudu is a South African antelope hide with a distinctive grain and natural markings, used in the Olathe Rosewood Kudu Rough Out and Rios of Mercedes Kudu Stone Waxy. Boar leather, used in the R. Watson Barn Red Black Boar, has a tight pebbled grain that holds up to hard use and develops a patina that standard cowhide doesn't match.

FAQ

What is the difference between square toe and pointed toe cowboy boots?

A square toe gives more room across the front of the foot while a pointed toe has a narrower, more traditional western silhouette that fits more easily into a stirrup.

What is bison leather?

Bison leather comes from American bison and is noticeably thicker and more abrasion-resistant than standard cowhide.

What is kudu leather?

Kudu leather comes from the kudu, a large antelope native to southern Africa. The hide has a distinctive natural grain with subtle markings that vary from hide to hide, which means no two pairs of kudu boots look exactly the same.

How should men's square toe cowboy boots fit?

Square toe boots should feel snug across the instep with a slight slip in the heel when new. The wider toe box gives more room across the front of the foot than a pointed or round toe making them more comfortable for daily wear.
